There are two reasons why we seek an outsider.
One reason is to look at something from a different perspective. So we can see or understand something we normally cannot see ourselves.
The second reason is to reaffirm or affirm something within ourselves.
Often times, the latter is used in the form of self-satisfaction. So we ask for an opinion, but in fact we want a confirmation that what we are doing is right, beautiful or good.
Of the two, the first is always the most valuable.
The more we can see other perspectives from our own, the more capable we will be of seeing and understanding things that most do not.
Doing so means going beyond personal EGO.
To see something as it is even if it does not look beautiful or pleasant at first sight.
